Rutland and Stamford MP Alicia Kearns hopes her Jobs and Careers Fair, taking place a week on Friday at Stamford Arts Centre, will show the variety of opportunities
available locally. The event will bring together employers, training providers and job support services to showcase the wide range of employment and apprenticeship options available to adults and young people locally. Over 30 employees will be in attendance including the police, fire service, the army, manufacturing, haulage, education, events management and social care employees. Alicia Kearns hopes holding it across lunchtime between 10:00am and 2:00pm on Friday the 23rd of January will enable lots of people to pop in.
‘We have so many wonderful employers locally and actually many people aren't aware of just the type of jobs that we have. So for example, some of the biggest combustion engines in the world are built just off the A1 in Rutland. And we're also going to have food, plastic, manufacturing jobs, social care, caring jobs, police, the army, you name it. I'm really hoping to have as wide an offer as possible. You know, we've got companies like C.S. Ellis who are sponsoring us where they do haulage, but they also do events management. They also do marquees. There's so much more that they do. So I'm hoping anyone who's thinking, do you know what, maybe it's time for a career change or someone who hasn't had a career yet, you know, you are student looking at your future. Come along, it's from 10:00am-2:00pm on Friday 23rd of January and it's just at Stamford Arts Centre’.
