The Airfield Museum at King's Cliffe is open today after this week they hosted a World War Two fighter pilot from the US Air Force
80 years to the day since he was shot down. 100 year old Joe Peterburs flew 49 missions with the 20th Fighter Group from King's Cliffe during the Second World War. He later flew combat missions in Korea and served in Vietnam. After racing the Stars and Stripes, the retired Lieutenant Colonel flew in a Mustang from Duxford back over the former RAF King's Cliffe, similar to the one that he piloted at the time. The King's Cliffe Airfield Museum is accessed via the Rockingham Holiday Park on the Wansford side and is open between 10:00am and 4:00pm
