Lincolnshire Fire and rescue proposals

20 new whole-time firefighter posts could be created as part of Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue's proposals to futureproof emergency response across the county.

Proposals include 24/7 whole-time cover at Grantham, which would then become only the second station in the county to do that, after Lincoln South. The service's seven other whole-time stations would still have crews seven days a week and on call at night and the county's 29 on-call stations, including Stamford, Deeping, and Bourne, would continue as they are now.

The proposal would require an additional investment into the service, but would mostly be funded by the removal of an uplift for whole-time firefighters providing on-call cover on a voluntary basis, which the service says is now outdated after national changes made it a voluntary decision for individuals to take part.

As part of these proposals, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue is asking the public for their views from today until the 23rd of August with an online response and the final recommendation is expected to be made later this year.
