The Rutland Air Ambulance fleet has been upgraded as part of a £30 million investment in the service.
The upgrade is the culmination of an eighteen month project to modernise and replace the Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance service, based at East Midlands Airport, along with its sister service in Warwickshire and Northamptonshire. The two new Leonardo AW109s are the fastest commercial helicopters and also start up and shut down quicker than others. The Air Ambulance Service is a charity which receives no government funding and is now calling on the communities it serves to support the service by donation and fundraising.
