Petition to bring Sea Dragon home

A petition has been launched to bring the Rutland Sea Dragon home after Rutland County Council said the project was too risky and costly to complete, instead opting for a digital version in the reworked museum.

MP Alicia Kearns is working with the Friends of Rutland County Museum in asking for the council to acquire the fossil from Anglian Water by the end of September, with a view to displaying the one hundred and eighty million-year-old structure in the museum in Oakham. Money from the Levelling Up Fund, which has been allocated to the museum, is believed to be time-limited.

If fifteen hundred residents sign the petition, which is available in the museum and on Alicia Kearns' website, Rutland County Council will be required to hold a full debate on the subject.
