One year ago today, amidst a national lockdown, Rutland and Stamford Sound went live online - broadcasting great music and local life to the region. To help us celebrate our first anniversary, we would love our listeners to drop by our live broadcast in Oakham today or try their luck in our Birthday Competition.
Rutland and Stamford Sound was born a year ago today! On the 5th March 2021, Rob Persani broadcast the inaugural Breakfast Show, streaming across the region to local communities and businesses.
Back in 2020, amidst a global pandemic and national lockdown, an opportunity arose to create Rutland’s first community radio station. Thanks largely to Rob’s experience, some generous grants, a handful dedicated volunteers and a lot of hard work, Rutland and Stamford Sound was born. Since then, it has been online 24 hours a day for the past year, delivering great music, local news and engaging with our communities.
To celebrate its 1st birthday, Rob Persani will be broadcasting the Saturday morning show live from Oakham Market today between 10am and 12 noon. With him will be fellow presenter Jon Hollis, from Oundle, as well as others from the Station along with celebration cakes for anyone dropping by, kindly provided by Love Life Eat Cake of Oakham. From Monday, as well, if you listen after 8am you can play ‘Who’s in the Room?’. Spot the famous person from the clues and you could win an overnight stay with bed, breakfast, and evening meal at the Falcon Hotel, Uppingham. The competition will run for a fortnight.
