A series of short films lead by Year 6s from several primary schools in Rutland is being launched tonight
to help keep their peers safe online. It's a project led by The Conversation Stamford's Cyberwise campaign featuring children from the Rutland Learning Trust. The film launches online at 5:00pm this evening and Gemma Holbird and Sarah Jane Sauntson from The Conversation Stamford hope it will reinforce the messages around young people and the Internet to a wide audience.
‘There are two students from each of the schools in the Rutland Learning Trust. Two Year 6 students and they've been absolutely fantastic. They produce a set of films over two days that essentially a film of them talking about how they interact with smart phones and the Internet and encouraging parents to help them stay safe. And we really hope that these videos will reach, you know, far and wide as excellent tools to teach both pupils and parents why these restrictions and support are necessary. You know, this is such a big issue for young people and I just think giving them the opportunity to voice their experience is really powerful and yeah, we want as many people as far and wide to hear what they've got to say about it’.
