A Stamford county councillor has presented a petition of over 1,000 signatures to Parliament calling for the boundaries of Rutland and Lincolnshire near the A1 to be redrawn, as larger authorities are set to take over as a result of local government reorganisation.
Richard Cleaver believes communities east of the Great North Road feel closer to Stamford than Rutland and therefore Lincolnshire and should have a stake in its services and is calling for the A1 from the Nottinghamshire border to the A43 to be transferred totally to Lincolnshire and removed from Rutland.
