Stamford High Street water leak to be repaired

A water leak on Stamford High Street that's been wet for half a year is apparently due to a stop tap that needs replacing.

After New Lodge Farm, who trade on the market, presented it with a six month anniversary card on social media, Anglian Water say they'll escalate the repair, although they tell councillors they're struggling to find a date that doesn't include market day after apparently cancelling planned repairs last month.

Meanwhile, the Greater Lincolnshire Forum for Agriculture and Horticulture, Lincolnshire County Council, and the UK Food Valley, which is a public sector partnership based in Lincolnshire which aims to grow local food security, all welcome news from the government it'll be easier to build on-farm reservoirs in the future.

It follows an event back in April in Lincolnshire, which brought together organisations to help tackle the issue of reliable water supplies for farmers in the face of increasingly common hot spells and droughts. On-farm reservoirs can also help create new habitats for wildlife and lower flood risks by capturing peak flows during storms, and reducing pressure on rivers.
