Organisers of tomorrow's Rutland County show are appealing to those who can to walk, cycle or use the free shuttle bus from Oakham and Uppingham
to cut down on the amount of cars visiting and ease congestion. Last year, a record 15,000 people came along. They're expecting similar numbers tomorrow. For people who need it they also have mobility scooter hire on site, new this year. As show director Sophie Howsam explains.
‘15,000 people on the show ground last year. If the weather is with us, there could be possibly a little bit more this year. That's a lot of people in the small space really. But it's amazing and it's interesting that we can tell from where the ticket sales are. A lot of those people are from Rutland, which we're not huge county, so it's amazing that we attract so many local people in and it's a great day just to celebrate everything that's Rutland. And we've got mobility scooters that are at the main entrance, so you can't get in without going past them and you can hire them for the day to help you get around. We know it's a big site. We know that we needed to do something so this year we've got the mobility scooters in and they are there and available’.
