Football

Last league games of the season saw Leicester City bow out of the Championship winning 1-0 at Blackburn Rovers. Stephy Mavididi with the goal on 78 minutes.

It will be interesting to see if the Foxes bounce straight back like they did last time as champions following relegation to League One with Peterborough United going up with them. Will history repeat itself?

As to Peterborough United, it was a disappointing end to the season, losing 3-1 to visitors Grant McCann’s Doncaster Rovers, who completed a league double. It was Billy Sharp, who has just been released by Rovers doing the damage with a second half hat-trick. Leading scorer for Posh, Harry Leonard had pulled it back to 2-1.

Cottesmore travelled to Sileby Town and drew 3-3 after conceding two late goals in the Everards Brewery Premier Division. The result sees them finish 7th their best position since the 22/23 season. A Josh Clark double and Leon Kavanagh scoring.

Women’s Football

Oakham United could not make it four wins in a row losing 4-1 at Loughborough Foxes Sapphires in the Leicestershire Women’s League Division 1. Remmie Ferla with the goal.
