A school which specialises in children with autism has its first student taking Maths and English GCSEs in its history.
The Shires in Oakham, which also has sites in Stretton and Stamford was visited by MP Alicia Kerns on Friday. Deputy Head, Claire Sillett says the student in question also has a career plan.
"We are really proud of him, as are his parents and he is doing really well. Obviously slightly worried about exams and things like that, but you know, we've managed to put a lot of work into place with him and he's got adults with him that he not relies on, but he trusts and just hopefully get him through the exam at the end of it so he can then go on to college.
And he wants to be a chef. So he's been doing some chefing courses as well at Stamford College that we've supported him with. So his future's looking really positive".
