Hundreds of top cyclists from across the country and the world are racing through from Melton Mowbray around Owston, through Somerby, Knossington, and a short section of the A606 near Whissendine today, they return to Melton for the finish.
This morning the Junior Men's CiCLE Classic is taking place from 9.30, and the Anexo CAMS Women's event this afternoon from 2.00. Race director from the series, Colin Clews, says the junior men's is a great indication of the stars of the future.
"If you look down the list of winners that we have there, amongst them we have people like Josh Tarling and Sam Watson, and you watch any cycling on television on the continent at the moment, and there are the names that are actually making the headlines alongside the cycling stars of other countries. So we pride ourselves that really our race is one which the top juniors in this country not only want to ride, but cherish the thought of actually going away from [with] a win in the race. But only one or two can actually do that, or one each year. But I'm sure that whoever wins again this year, the junior event, will in a couple of years time be a household name on television for the top cycling events in the world."
