East Midlands Ambulance Service said additional arrangements are needed
to make sure their service isn't disrupted following sustained pressure on them in the hot weather and other pressures within the NHS. They're appealing to users to only call 999 for serious illness and if life is at risk, and to use 111, pharmacies, urgent treatment centres and GP services where appropriate to make sure emergency ambulances aren't used unnecessarily. EMAS says it's now critical to ensure emergency ambulances aren't disrupted.
