Rutland & Stamford Sound has announced Local Lens Photography Competition 2026 to encourage residents to get outdoors and capture the beauty of the local area over the summer months.
The competition is run in partnership and sponsored by Pixel+Paper in Oakham and winners will be featured in the station’s 2027 fundraising calendar.
As a CIC the radio station relies on donations, advertising, fundraising and funding to continue its work connecting, celebrating and championing the local area and they hope to sell the calendar at Christmas markets to raise further funds.
Business Development Officer for the station Angela Wilson said: “After the success of our writing competition last year we wanted to hold Local Lens to involve even more of our community and to create something material in the form of a calendar that people can enjoy even after the competition is finished.
“It really is inclusive- you don’t have to have a fancy camera to enter or any experience, after all we are all taking snaps on our phones all the time, why not enter one of them?”
There are three categories- Adult, Secondary School and Primary School- and winners will receive credit for their photo in the calendar and a copy for themselves, as well as a certificate and place in an exhibition in the autumn.
The theme is simply Rutland & Stamford.
Angela added: “We just want submissions that really capture the diversity and beauty that we are so lucky to be surrounded by.”
Entries are open until August 31st via the website https://www.rutlandandstamfordsound.co.uk/community/local-lens-photography-competition-2026/
