The four month demolition project to remove redundant buildings from the Stamford Hospital
site is now complete, with almost all of the waste produced being recycled back into the construction industry. Work on demolishing the former Greenwood and Dronfield sites began last November following the opening of the new day treatment unit. Contractors Apex Construction say 99.7% of the waste produced has been re-used. From brick, block and concrete which has been re-processed to steelwork which has gone to local scrap yards and then recast and plasterboard in a process which separates the paper and powder. The only thing not recycled is a small amount of asbestos.
