Oakham has for the first time been named as one of the best places to live in this year's Sunday Times report.
The annual awards, which placed Stamford at the very top in the first one in 2013, described the county town of Rutland as a hearty market town with a range of standout independent shops.
The Save Rutland campaign is also mentioned as a strength of local community. The petition, which now has over 4,000 signatures, is appealing to the government to protect the county's status in the upcoming local government reorganisation. Uppingham and Rutland have both been highlighted previously in the Sunday Times survey. This year, Stamford and Rutland Water are also referenced.
