Today's Rutland Food and Drink Festival is one of the biggest yet, with over 90 stalls in Oakham, stretching from the Castle to the Marketplace, the High Street to Victoria Hall.
Special guest this year is former England international cricketer Matthew Hoggard, who runs his Hoggies Grill from the banks of Rutland Water, and is doing two cooking demonstrations near Oakham at 12 and 2. The event is free to attend, and parking is free in the town's car parks. The High Street is closed to traffic from 8am, and the event is on from 11 until 4. The Food and Drink Festival is also part of Discover Rutland's Food and Drink Week, which celebrates the county of good taste, with special menus, promotions, demonstrations and events, which bring together local producers, with local pubs, restaurants and cafes. The initiative runs until next weekend.
