South Kesteven District Council is expected to scrap proposals to charge for evening and Sunday parking in Stamford's car parks after outcry from the community.
A petition set up by Town Councillor Amanda Wheeler against the measures attracted nearly 3,000 signatures. There is, however, expected to be an increase in the hourly charge after three years without any inflationary rise. The District Council's Cabinet is expected to agree the measures tomorrow.
