Stamford Visitor Centre to encourage coaches to visit again

Stamford's tourist season is underway and volunteers from the Visitor Centre are for the first time meeting coaches at the bus station in a bid to help them stay a while amid its ancient charm.

Due to enforcement problems over the past couple of years caused by car drivers parking at the bus station, coach tours were going elsewhere and this season the visitor centre is determined to make sure that they choose Stamford, as Jill Collinge explains:

"The coaches gather at these great service areas and news travels fast. It's the coach drivers who decide where they're going. So we're hoping that this footfall will show in the town this year because that's our aim, to make the visitors come enjoy what they have to offer. I mean, if you want history or if you want the shops, you've got this wonderful backdrop of Stamford and its buildings to enjoy. So why not come and visit us?"
