Tickets are on sale for a variety show next month in Uppingham, which will raise money for two town causes.
12 Local performers are involved in the Mayor's Grand Variety Show, which will be in aid of Uppingham Youth Space and the Town's Twinning Association. It's being held at the town hall on Saturday, 21st of March in a cabaret style event. Writer and performer Henry Dawe is hosting the night. Mayor Dave Ainslie says both causes are close to his heart:
"As a grandfather of six children, I'm very, very keen that we have facilities for our younger citizens. People may know I'm an avid member of the Uppingham and District Twinning Association, and this year we're actually going to be visited in May time by our colleagues from Caudebec-en-Caux in Normandy."
Henry Dawe adds:
"And we've got an extremely interesting and varied selection of groups coming to perform, actually. We've got comedy, dance, music, musical theatre, so it's going to be really interesting and I hope people will very much enjoy the extent of what we've got to offer."
