Two days of transportation back to Tudor times is on show at Collyweston this weekend, marking ten years of work by the Village History Group into one of the most important discoveries.
The Collyweston Palace weekend sees re-enactors come together with historians to explain more about their findings and what life was like.
Lady Margaret Beaufort spent more time at Collyweston than any of her other residences. It was here she raised her grandson, the future King Henry VIII, and orchestrated the political manoeuvres that secured the Tudor dynasty. Other prominent royals, including Henry VII and Elizabeth I, are documented as having visited or stayed at the palace too.
Chairman of the Collyweston Historical and Preservation Society, Chris Close, says they've got something for everyone, from local demonstrations to more about the period.
"There's a lot for kids going on, re-enactment groups. We've got games for the kids, classic games going on that you just don't tend to see nowadays, right through to stuff about AI and its role within history.
Claude Smith, slate miner, coming to do a demonstration. We've got the Burghley stonemasons. We've got stuff about Tudor food and lots and lots of stuff about medieval works as well. There's literally a talk going on on the hour every hour over the weekend."
