This week, the first military working dogs are beginning to make the move from St George's Barracks, North Luffenham, to Kendrew Barracks, Cottesmore.
Long overdue state-of-the-art facilities are being opened as the regiment moves across from this week. Commanding officer, Lieutenant Colonel Anno Flynn, says the new facilities are being welcomed by the regiment.
"That's right. Well, part of our regiment will, actually. We are starting this week, in fact, a very exciting first move of our kennels. Our dogs and our soldiers are moving across to Kendrew Barracks. We're staying within Rutland, which is a joy for us. And after a long association at St George's Barracks in North Luffenham, we are finally getting a set of brand-new state-of-the-art kennels, which we were promised over a decade ago.
So this is an exciting time for us, and we are really looking forward to giving our military working dogs the kind of accommodation and facilities they deserve."
