Football:

Leicester City suffered a seventh straight league defeat losing 2-0 at home to Fulham.

In the lunch time kick-off, Peterborough United played out a goalless draw at home to in form Leyton Orient to earn their first league clean sheet of the season.

The Daniels have suffered back-back league away defeats after losing 2-0 at AFC Telford United, a result that takes them to top of the league. Both goals coming in the space of six minutes in the 2nd half.

Uppingham Town stay top of the Premier Division of the Peterborough and District League after an impressive 5-0 win at Chatteris Town whilst extending their unbeaten league run to 13. Sam Blackwell and Cam Cleaver with two each and Noah Sinclair the other.

Oakham United lost out narrowly 1-0 at Moulton Harrox, Deeping Rangers Reserves losing 3-1 at home to 2nd placed Stanground Cardea Sports and Deeping United suffering a 5-0 defeat away to Ramsey Town.

League leaders Stamford Bels in Division 1 march on with win number 18 and 100% record as they beat visitors Park Farm Pumas 7-0. Two goals each for Dave Atkinson and Josh Dowell with goals from Lewis Morley, Jordan Neil and Louie Roberts.

Bourne Town have gone top of the United Counties Premier Division North after their 1-1 draw at home to Newark Town. Tom Siddons had put them ahead early in the game but was cancelled out on 73 minutes. The result brings to an end a 15-match winning run in all competitions. Deeping Rangers suffered a 5-0 defeat away to Ashby Ivanhoe.

Blackstones in Division 1 beat West Bridgford 2-1 thanks to a Josh Barrett double.

Cottesmore suffered a third defeat in a row 4-2 at Aylestone Park Reserves in the Everards Brewery Premier Division. In the 90th minute they had a golden opportunity to make it 3-3 but it was not to be. Leon Kavanagh and a Kadeem Price penalty their scorers.

Women’s football:

Stamford AFC are out of the Lincolnshire FA County Women’s Cup after losing at home in the quarter final 3-1 to Lincoln United. Emma Pollard with the Stamford goal.

Oakham United are through to the quarter finals of the Leicestershire and Rutland County Cup after a 4-0 win over Allexton & New Parks to earn them a home tie against Castle Donington. The goals for Oakham coming from a Zina Cheikh hat-trick, her 5th of the season and Bethany Munton.

Deeping Rangers went down 8-0 at Sleaford Town in the 1st round of the Marsh Sport County Women's Plate.

Youth Football results:

Oakham United 1-2 Whetstone Juniors Panthers in the Leicestershire Youth League Under 17s Division 2.

Leicester & District Sunday Juniors League Under 15 Cottesmore 3-2 Thurmaston Magpies Junior Hurricanes.

Peterborough & District Leagues:

U18 League Knockout Cup Quarter-Final Whittlesey Athletic 3-1 Stamford AFC Young Daniels Silver.

Under 16 Division 2 - Stamford AFC Young Daniels Yellow 2-1 Spalding United Blue.

Under 15 Division 3 – Ketton Sports 3-1 Boston United Community Under 15 Black.

Rugby:

Top of the table thriller in Pool 3 of the Investec Champions Cup saw Northampton Saints secure top spot with a 34-32 victory over Munster despite trailing 15-12 at the break.

The Saints scored five tries including a Tom Seabrook hat-trick to seal a home tie in the last 16.

Counties 1 saw leaders Stamford make it four wins on the trot and complete the double over Peterborough Lions by 59 points to 7.

A James Wilson try gave Stamford the perfect start on five minutes. The visitors responded positively to lead 7-5 on 11 minutes but that was the end of their scoring.

Two tries quickly followed from Fraser Hutton and Ian Downer with James Wilson scoring his second try just on half-time to make 24-7 at the break.

Four more tries were scored in the second half which included a brace for Joe Ireland, substitute Austin Baker and Ed Cox with a superb individual try in stoppage time.

Fraser Hutton in addition to his try scored three conversions before he was replaced by Harry Ayton with two conversions.

Bourne meanwhile avoided three defeats in a row as they turned the form book upside down running in four tries in a 32-15 victory over 3rd placed Newbold on Avon.

Counties 3 action saw Stamford College Old Boys lose 35-27 at Aylestone Athletic. The Old Boys points coming from a Callum Fraser brace of tries and try each for Paul Beard and Jimmy Twose. Carl Brierley-Lewis with two conversions and a penalty.

Deepings faced a strong Rugby Lions side away going down by 101 points to 5.

Leicester Tigers suffered their biggest defeat ever in the Champions Cup as they were comprehensively beaten in Toulouse in Pool 1 by 80 points to 12. The home side producing 12 tries to secure runner-up spot. Despite the result, the Tigers are through to the last 16 but will have to play away.

Women’s rugby:

Stamford Women produced a superb away performance at 2nd placed Bedford Blues. At half-time they led 17-14 and ran out winners 32-24 to go 3rd in the Women's NC 1 East.

Gemma Alcoran scoring three tries with a try a piece for Catelyn Etherington and Jess Gargan. Daisy Attley with two conversions and a penalty.
