Despite the rain claiming several local cricket games, there was still plenty of action across the local area on Saturday

Starting in the Leicestershire and Rutland League

Oakham 1sts lost to Newtown Linford 1sts in the Premier Division by 63 runs

It was a great day of cricket for Uppingham Town. 1sts beat Langtons 1sts in Premier 2 by 86 runs. Uppingham’s number 3 Brough scored a fabulous 103 including 17 boundaries. The 2nds beat Ashby Carington in Championship 2 Central by 8 wickets. 3rds thrashed Market Overton 2nds in Championship 4 Central by 10 wickets

Market Overton 1sts were convincingly beaten by 80 runs in Championship 2 Central by Langtons 2nds despite a 6-wicket haul from Overton’s inform bowler Cooper.

Wakerley & Barrowden 1sts lost to Egerton Park 3rds in Championship 4 Central by 6 wickets

Lincolnshire Premier Cricket League

Burghley Park 2nds beat Woodhall Spa 2nds in Division One South by 2 wickets

Now to the Round-Robin T20 George Marshall Cup:

In South 1 at Bourne Cricket Club, Ketton Sports 1sts beat Bourne 1sts and lost to Spalding 1sts

in South 3 at Boston Cricket Cup, Burghley Parks 1sts lost to Boston 1sts but beat Moulton Harrox

On Sunday there were some exceptional individual performances across the local cricket grounds.

In Division 1 of the Rutland League, Harry Cox starred as Uppingham Town beat Barnack by six wickets. Cox tore through the visitors’ top order, reducing them to 11 for 5 and finishing with outstanding bowling figures of 6 for 17. Barnack recovered to post 102, but Uppingham comfortably reached the target, with Cox also scoring an unbeaten half-century to cap a player-of-the-match display.

In Division 3 Stamford 1sts beat Benefield 1sts by 125 runs. Stamford scored an imposing 246 for 1. Both Aidan Staunton and Tim Juggins scored centuries. Benefield were skittled out for 121.

Ketton Sports 1sts lost by 8 wickets to Royal Strikers 1st in division 4.

Grantham and Melton Cricket Association Division 2

Stamford Town 2nds visitors Quorn were unable to field a team and conceded the game

Women’s Cricket

And In East Midlands Women’s Cricket League Division 1 South, Market Overton 1sts were 136 for 9 in reply to Shepshed 1sts’ 175 when rain stopped play.

Rugby

In the Gallagher English Premiership final league games of the season, not great results for the two local sides. Northampton Saints lost 38 - 31 at Harlequins with Leicester Tigers also losing 24 – 22 at Bath.
