Rutland Memorial Hospital is set to receive investment of £2,225,000, believed to be the largest in healthcare in the county in a decade.
1.6 million is subject to cabinet approval next Tuesday by Rutland County Council from its Community Infrastructure levy paid by developers to help facilities in the areas where houses are built. An additional £650,000 comes from the Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland Integrated Care Board. It will see the replacement of the X-ray machine, believed to be the oldest still in use in the country, whilst restoring it to a five day week service, which it had before the pandemic, and GP consultation rooms will be doubled to six for use by Oakham Medical Practice. The clinical areas of the hospital will also be refurbished and modernised. Work should start this October and take a year to complete.
