5,000 visitors are expected in Uffington, near Stamford,
over the next two days as the annual Scarecrow Festival celebrates the centenary of Sir David Attenborough. As one of the organisers, Vanessa Kimberley explains.
‘He has done so much for the planet over all those years. And I hope he's happy with being 100 and the legacy that he's leaving for not just obviously Uffington, but the whole world. And I think he's leaving it a better place. That's what you hope, don't you? But he has inspired, as you say, lots of different scarecrows. A lot of them are animal themed'.
Forty creations are in place around the village. There's also a dog show today, a variety of stalls including a new Uffington Makers area and two days of life music at a new bandstand in the school fields and also at the church.
