Rutland County Council Is undergoing a series of financial health checks
to make sure their budget agreed in February remains affordable despite heightened global economic uncertainty. They've started with their capital program at £55 million for highway maintenance and other community infrastructure and say most schemes can still be delivered within existing budgets. The new Medi-Tech Innovation Centre at Oakham Enterprise Park should go ahead with some adjustments to funding. However, the project to bring the restored Rutland Sea Dragon to a re-imagined museum in Oakham is recommended to be shelved due to a predicted increasing costs of over £1,000,000. The Council say they'll still be doing work on the museum to enhance their digital experience, but the internationally significant fossil carries too much risk and liability.
