London Marathon fundraising for the Matt Hampson Foundation is expected to top £200,000
with the hope they can extend their Get Busy Living Centre at Borough on the Hill to help even more people seriously injured through sports. 24 people took part in the 26 miles last Sunday for the foundation from beneficiaries, supporters and Matt himself, who was pushed around by a team of runners. Matt Hampson says it was an incredible day and quite a challenge too.
‘Yeah, I knew it was an amazing experience and one that I will remember for the rest of my life. Today It was so special to do. An amazing team as well. And what were the biggest challenges for you on the day for you personally? I think logistically it's quite difficult obviously being on a ventilator and making sure that we had all the right emergency equipment, batteries and also skin integrity and my catheter as well. So all different logistics that you wouldn't normally think of it was just normal right now. I suppose temperature control as well as it kind of warmed up through the day that impacts on you, I would imagine. Yeah, part of my condition I can't regulate my body temperature. So actually today was a bit of a blessing in disguise really’.
