A date has been set for a public meeting where Rutlanders can state their views on Government plans to scrap district councils and small unitary authorities
such as Rutland, favouring proposals that cover half a million people. It comes after County Hall recommended one authority to cover all of Leicestershire and Rutland apart from the city. It's being organised by MP Alicia Kearns, who says Stamford is in a different position as Lincolnshire moves towards a mayor for the county. The public meeting is at Victoria Hall, Oakham two weeks tonight on Monday the 27th of January at 6:00pm.
